"Lola" a story of admiration and resurrection

I first heard of Lola through a guy at a local Indie music store. I heard she was the possession of a local rhythm guitarist when she was newer. Story goes on to say she was then passed on his nephew when he died and the nephew went after her with a hand belt sander and no regard.

I wanted her... I wanted to resurrect her... I wanted to make her whole again. I had been looking around for the right project that I could get into that would challenge me yet save from the scrap heap, burning pile or to suffer as a rejected wall hanger.

I saw her again on a music sales website. I was enamored with her. She sat on a guitar stand looking like a proper lady should. Head up, shoulders back, bearing her scars like badges of honor. I could see the life in her and instantly fell in love.

I reached out to my musician friend who has a plethora of knowledge regarding Gibson guitars. I sent him the sales link and he said he knew the guitar and would reach out to see if his shop still had it on hand. Seems I was a few days late, it sold. I sulked for a few days, but hoped she would go to a good home.

In the mean time, my friend told me his connection to the guitar. He said from what he heard, the guitar was owned by an old man who had given to his grandson. His grand son severely disfigured her and then she was sold to a local guitar shop. The shop pulled her parts and then sold her. From there it changed hands a few more times and ended up on a YouTube channel by a respected collector/seller who has showcased his share of guitars. When I saw her again, I immediately reached out to the owner of the YouTube channel and advised him I had been trying to get my hands on the guitar and I would pay him for the guitar as is, no questions and no regard for the further damage.

My attachment to this guitar is that of a lusting teenager to a star on the big screen with the exception that I got the girl and she's better in life than on the internet.
